I read about a neat program in the December issue of All You magazine. It's an organization called Bead for Life, that helps women in Uganda support their families and become self-sufficient. These women make beautiful handmade beads out of recycled paper and handmade shea butter soap.
Now you're wondering how you can help. If you'd like to support these women, you may purchase products directly from the Bead for Life website. You can also host a BeadParty to raise awareness and money for the women in Uganda. It is easy to apply. Simply click on the "Host a BeadParty" tab and register. Bead for Life will send you a BeadParty package which will include all of the products you need to host a party: You will receive:
- approximately 275 jewelry items (or more if you are hosting a large party),
- shea butter soap
- peppermint lip balm
- a DVD about the beaders
- a CD with Ugandan music and songs
- educational material and biographies on some of the women
- African recipes
- a prepaid return label (so you can return what you don't sell FREE of charge!)
